I’m always incredibly grateful that there are people who are willing to think (& feel) about these things— it’s too much for us to try to hold alone! 💕
Thank you for this amazing share Laura. I would like to share similar perspective largely influenced by current Indian political situation. When the society is full of political polarity and corruption, there is ignorance of innocence or weak like children, animals and also women. Innocent people suffer, get ignored or worst, killed. I have been getting many dreams in which I am ignoring a helpless kitten, a part of me wants to rescue but I tend to ignore. Until recently when I finally teamed up a somatic psychotherapist to deal with trauma in my body, the dream changed to a situation in which I am actually holding an ugly black kitten with a conviction to save her.
Amruta, how powerful it is to hear you share your own experience from halfway across the globe! I know that you are also swimming in the divisiveness there— I know how distressing it can feel here and imagine there is a lot of similarity. It is lovely to hear how your dream shifted as your internal situation changed! How incredibly beautiful. Grateful to you for sharing and being in community.
The violence we are witnessing for the past 4-5 years in our country has been a threat to our sense of dignity and humanity. It's coming at us from so many directions, the level of stress, anxiety and depression has reached a critical point. We feel helpless in the midst of this constant onslaught of hate and fear. Thank you for defining what I have been feeling and wondering why my dreams have been so disturbing. I love the mace story, so empowering!
You said this so well, Anne- it does feel like it’s coming at me from all directions (including inside!). I think that “helpless” feeling is so relatable and (for me) why the mace dream is really resonant. We aren’t nearly as helpless as we feel. Thank you so much for sharing in this with me!
Thank you for putting language onto challenging internal experiences. I, as always, appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Thanks Laura for this reminder - it's super helpful to zoom out and remember we are in this tangled web with all of it.
And your client's story of "talking back" within themself.
Thank you, Chessa! And for me, so grateful to know there are other good people out there doing this work too! 🤗
