I just started working with the Morpheus system! And while reading their explanation of stress and HRV, I thought to myself, “I need someone to paraphrase this for me so I can better understand these terms and concepts”. And then, “ding”, the notification for your video. So looking forward to listening and learning! Thanks, Laura.

Thank you for this information! It’s interesting how the definition of stress has changed with time; do you think there’s a connection between that and capitalism/the grind? I struggle with getting in my steps and 3 lifts a week — all which I enjoy — and keeping my HRV within Morpheus’s (I had the same reaction to the name) suggested zones. Which has me thinking about true fitness and health and rest and balance, not all the versions promoted by the industry and media. Lots to think about, for sure. I greatly appreciate your explanation!

Thanks Laura, it was a great reminder to look at our own stress reactions as "not bad" whether is be negative or positive stress. Taking into consideration our past history in how we personally respond to stress gave me a new perspective.

Always appreciate your thoughtful response, Anne! I have found it personally so helpful to decouple my ideas around what stress management/recovery “should be” (cultural expectation) from the reality of my lived experience. But it’s been a journey!
